Moderna recently announced a RNA based cancer vaccine that stops melanoma from returning. This announcement made their stock price instantaneously skyrocket. Our thesis is that this event is not independent, but rather there must exist a history of events such as patent registration, company reports, scientific paper publications, announcements of collaborations with research groups or acquisitions of smaller companies. With this information we should be able to track and build a momentum report for a given company to infer whether they might be pushing out a new product so that we can invest in the company prior to stock market reaction.
