About Kuro
Kuro is building the AI automation platform for the back-office of construction companies. Founded by Lea Leibold and Jonas Minkler, who previously built construction tech scale-ups alcemy and Capmo, Kuro helps construction professionals utilize their biggest data source – the 95% of unstructured data in the industry.
Our entry point is the estimation (quoting) process, the core and most expensive back-office operation. Our product extracts information from project inputs, automatically identifies building components, and enriches this data into 3D models, saving up to 90% of time for our clients.
Leading construction enterprises with a combined construction volume exceeding €30 billion annually are already using Kuro. We’ve recently raised a pre-seed round from the leading global construction tech VC and are growing our team in Berlin.
The Role: Founding Software Engineer
As one of our first hires, you’ll have significant influence over our product direction and technical foundation. You’ll work closely with our CPTO Jonas, who owns tech and product initiatives.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop Customer-Focused Use Cases
- Rapidly prototype and deliver automation and insight solutions.
- Evaluate feasibility and ROI for customer-specific applications.
- Optimize and Productionize Solutions
- Manage experimentation pipelines and conduct error analysis.
- Oversee evaluations, scoring, and golden dataset creation.
- Enhance ML and Data Pipelines
- Continuously refine and optimize data pipelines to support new and existing use cases.
- Refine Evaluation Processes
- Improve evaluation and scoring systems for better performance monitoring.
Recent Projects You Would Have Worked On
- Increased accuracy by 9% through prompt engineering with customer feedback.
- Improved accuracy by 11% using LLMs for prompt rewriting (LLM-as-an-audience).

- You thrive working in a small and accountable team with a lot of ownership
- You want to take full ownership in solving customer problems by designing and implementing features
- You are passionate about the potential of GenAI, a strong believer in its transformative power, and eager to explore how it can be applied to solve real-world challenges in the construction industry
- You build already applied end-to-end AI use cases and brought them to production
- You have at least 3+ years of experience as a software engineer in a fast paced environment
- You are fluent in both spoken and written English
- You are happy to work onsite at our office (Berlin, 13355) on a daily basis
